Months of planning went into pulling our second event together and the hard work showed as over 100 people attended to show their support of the cause. Eight teams of five to seven players signed up to compete in a single loss elimination flag football tournament. The competition went off without a hitch as all players involved played hard and clean football.
In addition to the football games, all donors enjoyed all-you-can eat food and drink. Everything from burgers and dogs, to ribs and potato salad was on hand. On top of the football games and food, there was a raffle held awarding prizes such as dinner at Khan’s Mongolian Garden, Rockland Boulder tickets, perfume, and also a grand prize of four tickets to a golf outing at Minisceongo Golf Course was auctioned off.
The goal of the event was to raise money towards the 2014 scholarship (the 2013 scholarship had already been awarded). Between online contributions leading up to the event and also contributions made by the attendees, as a team we were able to raise over $3,000! None of this would have been possible if it weren’t for the generosity of all of Phil’s loved ones and also the contributions from the local businesses. This event truly showed how powerful of a community we live in. Thank you all for coming and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
